Miniature Homes
As a Chicago native, Zoe also draws inspiration from the city’s distinctive residential architecture, incorporating visual motifs from the buildings they pass on daily bike rides or from homes with personal significance. These miniature recreations act as intimate studies of place, memory, and the idiosyncrasies of urban living. Just as their functional ceramics respond to the needs of the individual, these architectural forms reflect a deep curiosity about how people shape and are shaped by their environments—visually, emotionally, and materially.
Functional Design
Zoe’s functional works are the result of thoughtful, iterative process. Shaped by material research, testing, and lived experience—each iteration evolving in response to use, observation, and the quiet rituals of daily life. The work is guided by a desire to create objects that feel intuitive in the hand, considerate of their environment, and deeply attuned to the routines of their user.
Grounded in an interest in simplicity and the raw materiality of clay, the forms prioritize function without sacrificing elegance. This approach to design-as-care welcomes utility and craftsmanship to collaborate. These are objects designed to be lived with—elevated through care and intention, offering a sense of modest luxury and belonging in the spaces they inhabit.
